Teenagers across the town are taking part in the search for Swindon's favourite novel for young people.
People aged between 13 and 19 are voting online in the library service's Fantastic Fiction Award.
All nominations will appear on a special website, but only those published after January 1998 will be eligible for the award.
This will mean that all but the first of JK Rowling's Harry Potter books which was published in 1997 will be eligible to be nominated.
Also popular among young people is the work of fantasy author Philip Pullman.
Library membership cardholders may nominate from one of the Internet links at Swindon library branches.
On June 14 the short list will be announced, allowing teenagers to read the titles during the summer holidays. In the autumn a series of events will be held at which the books will be discussed.
Teenagers will then vote online, and an awards ceremony will be held in December.
Nominations close on May 31.
Full details are available at all Swindon libraries, and can also be obtained by visiting www.swindon.gov.uk/fantasticfictionaward.
