SWINDON CANCER APPEAL: THREE potential models met with stylists at West One hairdressing salon ahead of a charity fashion show.
The Old Town salon, which also has an outlet in Westcott Place, will stage the show in aid of the Swindon Cancer Appeal.
The company's owner, Jo Simpson, is hoping to discover 15 Swindon models to sashay down a catwalk at the Cricklade Hotel on November 3.
The overall winner will become the face and hair of West One for a year a chance in a million for budding models.
Jo, 34, said: "It's such a great opportunity for people who want to get into modelling. The people we choose will be able to get their hair done free at the salon throughout the year.
"There will also be trips to London for photo shoots with professional photographers, as well as makeovers.
"We have had a lot of interest in the competition so far but we need to do the girls' hair and take photos before we can make any decisions.
"We'll let people know our final choices in June. I'm sure the show will be a big success.
"We chose to support the Swindon Cancer Appeal because it seems that everyone knows somebody who has the disease."
Entrants should be over 14 years old and at least 5ft4ins tall.
The closing date for entries is Saturday, May 31.
Representatives from the Tigi and Wella hair product manufacturers will also attend the show, offering special deals and voucher booklets for all audience members.
One of the would-be models, Annabel Giraud-Telme, a 14-year-old student at St Joseph's Upper School, Drove Road, Old Walcot, said: "I want to do this because I'd like to do something in the fashion industry when I grow up and I thought this would be a great way to see how it works and to have fun."
Another of the hopefuls is Tracy Knight, 27, self-employed contract consultant, Turnham Green, Freshbrook.
"I'm hoping this will prove to be a great way to get into hair and catalogue modelling.
Joanne Pike, 25, a personal assistant from Kent Road, Old Town, added: "I'm entering the competition because it will be a fun and exciting process.
"West One will give me a great haircut and we will raise money for charity at the same time." Appeal manager Graziella Campisano said: "The West One fundraiser sounds very exciting. I'm thrilled they want to help us in this way.
"Keep all your fundraising ideas coming. We greatly appreciate every donation."
