WATER was cut off to around ten homes in Wroughton after workmen sliced through a water main.
A jet of water shot 20 feet into the air after the incident at Station Road in the village centre.
The workmen were installing services for a nearby new housing development. A Chinese takeaway, hairdressing salon and caf were also affected.
Thames Water arrived at the scene 30 minutes after the main was ruptured at 10am on Saturday.
The water supply was restored after two hours.
