LOCAL match group, Elgin, crushed the opposition in the latest Marcel Van Den Eynde Super Cup round held at Vale Farm.
Elgin's professionalism was far too good and they accumulated six section wins out of eight and totalled 76 points out of a possible 80, with Tilehurst British Legion on 64 points and Camrose AC on 52 points were last.
Individually Elgin took the top five places, fishing luncheon meat between five and seven metres.
The matchwinner was Sean Matthews with a cracking 46lb 14ozs, followed by Andy Dixie (40-3-0), John Williams (24-14-0), Geoff Wilder (24-10-0) and Darren Reynolds (17-9-0).
The Wednesday Club match was held last week on Ivy House's small canal, Ricky Spiteri winning the event with 17lb 8oz of small carp.
He was followed closely by Dereck Hillier (16lb) and Mick Robins (12-4-0).
Buscot Park Lake fished hard again, and the BCA club members found the going tough.
Spiteri chalked up another win with his skimmer catch of 6lb 8oz, followed by Graham Smith (3-13-0), Steve Sutton (3-7-0) and fourth was Paul Northcott on (3-4-0).
THE North Wessex Winter League AGM at Ferndale Road WMC didn't spring up with many surprises with most rules being unchanged.
The league's entry fee was put up to £40 from a previous £36, to be paid by August 1, with the committee remaining unchanged.
Godfrey Hargreaves stays on again as secretary/ treasurer, Colin Dunn as chairman and Neil Richards match secretary.
Dates and venues for next season's series are as follows: September 28, Radcot (River Thames); October 12, Sutton Benger (Bristol Avon); October 26, Marlborough Canal; November 9, Marlborough Canal; November 23, Marlborough Canal; January 11, Marlborough Canal, 1st semi-final; February 1, Marlborough Canal, 2nd semi-final.
Ashton Keynes club cards are now available from the normal sources and their season starts on June 16 and ends on June 15 of next year.
Members will be allowed to fish throughout the period at Neigh Bridge and Thamesmead but Keynes Park Lakes and Cokes Pit will close on March 14 next yeear
The cost for joining hasn't been increased this season with a full three-rod membership being £45, the normal two rod being £30, with juniors 16 and under and senior citizens up to three rods for £15.
