CHALKE Valley Cricket Club secured a resounding eight-wicket victory against the Dorset Wanderers in the first match of the season, played at the new Broad Chalke Sports Centre.
Chalke Valley bowled out the visitors for 139 with Nick Gulliver taking 2-10 and teenager David Brown claiming 2-15.
In reply, openers Andy Bundy, 66 retired, and Tim Lampert, 55 retired, were on top from the start, making most of the 140 required, though not without surviving a few dropped catches. Young players on both sides impressed on the day.
