ARABIAN horses are to make a welcome return to Salisbury Racecourse on Friday evening after an absence of four years.
They will take part in a special event for pure-bred and part-bred Arabian horses, arranged by Clarendon Stud to celebrate its tenth anniversary.
The Teffont stud in Teffont breeds pure bred Arabian racehorses and when owners Michael and Dan Brunton started to look for ways to mark the anniversary, they could think of nothing more appropriate than to stage a race at their local track.
Gates open for tomorrow's meeting at 4.30pm with the first race at 6pm.
The horses will be running for a total purse of £10,000 with race sponsors including Wood BMW, Ottons Land Rover, The Chapel nightclub, Halesway Ltd, and Thruxton Press.
The meeting has attracted the attention of the Arabian racing community. Arabian racing organisation manager Charlie Corbett thanked clerk of the course Jeremy Martin for the opportunity to return after a long break.
Dan Brunton added: "We're delighted with the support from local businesses and happy to be working closely with Jeremy and his team for what promises to be a great spectacle for racing enthusiasts."
