A GROUP of Yatesbury residents were stunned by the public reaction to a history exhibition they organised charting the village's past.
The exhibition was held in the John Stewart Memorial Hall last weekend and included photographs of the village at the turn of the 19th century. There were also written accounts of what village life used to be like by older people interviewed by the group.
Anne Partridge who moved to the village in 1966 and helped organise the event, said: "We're just a group of friends interested in village history.
"We were expecting a handful of people from the village but we had 95 through on Saturday and 150 on Sunday. It really was an amazing response considering there are only 40 houses in the village."
She said the next step will be to start cataloguing the information, and then transcribing it on to CDs for future generations to enjoy.
