THE 4th Devizes Guides celebrated the success of two of their number who were presented with Baden Powell awards last week, the highest awards Guides can achieve.
Naomi Ibbetson, 16, and Hannah Neate, 15, received their awards at the London Road Youth Centre in Estcourt Crescent, Devizes.
The awards represent years of work by the two Guides across five zones, including healthy lifestyles, global awareness, skills and relationships, celebrating diversity and discovery.
In working towards her award, Hannah designed a poster for the Save the Tree campaign in Devizes Market Place and organised a Chinese New Year celebration. She went on a challenge weekend in Salisbury which involved climbing the steeple of the cathedral, going on a ghost walk, pottery painting and a demonstration on make-up.
Naomi organised a number of events, including an international evening, a birthday celebration, a Fair Trade evening and a games evening. She has been to several camps, taken part in three carnivals, many parades and other events.
Hannah is a purple belt in judo and Naomi is a singer, receiving the St Cecilia medal in 2001 for her work as head chorister at St John's, Devizes, one of only 20 in the country.
Gaynor Mapp, Guider of the 4th Devizes group, said: "Everyone is delighted that Naomi and Hannah have done so well. They have worked very hard indeed for this. Five Guides are working towards their awards."
