Thank you to the residents of Swindon who took the trouble to vote on May 1, every member of a political party would echo that I'm sure. I hope you enjoyed the variety of ways to vote, let's hope we see phone and internet voting again.
As a Labour councillor I respect your choice to see the Conservatives take control, as they now will do, although not with an overall majority.
Personally it worries me, it is only day five and already we have heard of cutting social housing from 30 per cent to 15 per cent of new developments, more road changes (Park & Ride, Wroughton) and a review of the "long-term future for the Link and Oasis" I hope that doesn't mean selling them off.
So here we begin we did try and tell you.
I wish the Tories all the best with their leadership, it affects us all after all. With these cuts announced already though, I'm afraid, I'm very afraid.
Let's hope I'm wrong.
Fay Howard
Councillor Park Ward
Swindon
