AN energetic schoolboy has raised £250 for Comic Relief after a marathon Bank Holiday walk.
Eleven-year-old Jack Payne, a Year 6 pupil at Corsham Regis Primary School, walked the 26 mile Farfen Trail between Avesbury and Stonehenge on May 4.
His teacher Louisa Sellers said: "Jack did the walk with his dad, he said it was a personal challenge for him."
Jack, who is a very active pupil, took just nine hours to complete the walk.
He was sponsored by friends and family.
Ms Sellers said: "Jack did it off his own back, it was very impressive.
"He plays a lot of sport. He was in the school's tag rugby team that got to the semi-finals of a competition in Bath, the team even got to play at the Rec."
Jack, who lives locally in Corsham, also plays for the school football team.
School governor Sian Cooper was full of praise for Jack's efforts.
She said: "26 miles is a long way for a young lad, and we are very proud of his achievement.
"He organised the whole thing himself, and it is really encouraging when youngsters take the initiative to do things like this."
