TRAVELLERS who set up camp on a Melksham industrial estate left after a flood of complaints from local businesses.
Security patrols were stepped up when 20 caravans moved onto the former Avon Rubber site on the Bowerhill Industrial Estate.
Local businesses asked guards to keep a closer eye on their properties and many firms blocked their entrances.
When the travellers moved off the site last week, patrols were relaxed.
A spokesman for one company, who did not wish to be named, said: "I was quite impressed with the quick reactions of the police who were down there straight away. It is a relief now they have gone."
Maggie Smith-Bendell, who works for the Romany Gypsy Council, said the problems highlight the case for a long-term transit site in the area.
