A WOMAN from Steeple Ashton is trying to start a branch of the Jubilee Sailing Trust in West Wiltshire, to give disabled people a holiday of a lifetime.
Ann Langley has been taking part in cruises on the Lord Nelson a tall ship owned by the Jubilee Sailing Trust, which takes disabled and able bodied people on sailing trips all over the world.
Mrs Langley said: "You can't put into words the magic of the Lord Nelson. It makes people feel valued, worthwhile and then gives them new confidence, and that applies to disabled and able bodied people."
She has taken part in several cruises, going along mostly as a watch leader, in charge of a group of 10 people who each take turns at working in the key areas of the ship.
Mrs Langley said: "There is a huge range of disabilities and ages on the boat, but the boat is geared up for everything and very well adapted so that it can accommodate wheelchairs and you are valued for what you can do, not what you can't.
"People in wheelchairs go up the mast and there is always a job for someone to do whatever their disability."
Mrs Langley is now trying to start up a local branch of the Jubilee Sailing Trust to benefit Wiltshire people.
Anyone interested in helping should contact Mrs Langley on (01380) 870 083.
