HEYTESBURY are Division One runners-up after Seend United just failed in their bid to capture top flight silverware for the first time in 47 years following a goalless draw against new champions Frome Town Sports.
Barry Holloway's outfit had to extend their three victories over Frome this season to earn second spot but a brilliant second half save by Dean Evans from Aaron Richardson and Mike Hopkins rattling the Frome crossbar in stoppage time, denied Seend.
Heytesbury, who completed their campaign five weeks before, take second place on more goals scored than third placed Broughton Gifford and on a goal difference of just one from Seend.
Division Two runners-up are Dynamo West End who like Seend had to win to collect medals on the final day of the Premier Global Ltd sponsored season. Dynamo snatched a 1-0 double over Westbury United A to pip Broughton Gifford Reserves for silverware.
While Evans denied Seend, Dynamo keeper Stuart Gregory played a massive part as well, saving a first half penalty from Sam Tucker the first he has ever missed and the follow up attempt by Jason Parmley. Injured striker Simeon Mills then became his side's second hero, limping back on to amend for one miss by immediately striking the winner to give manager Shawn Donneky a second promotion in successive seasons.
Champions Rudloe won the title by three points with Dave Morgan's side recording six wins in their last eight matches with a 5-0 success over relegated Rowde Sports. Defenders Paul Newbury and Ashley King carved out a two goal interval lead before Jason Walsh (two) and Tim Jefferies added more misery on Rowde who had suffered a 6-0 midweek defeat by Bratton for whom Marc Lanfear and Pete Gizzie hit hat -ricks.
There was an end of season shock for North Bradley Saints whose 4-1 midweek win over Apetito included two late goals from Brent Murden to bring his tally to 50 for the season.
Bromham's 3-2 win over the Division Three champions gained revenge for a Spring Cup final defeat by Saints for whom skipper Andy Colebrooke and Richard Bliha wiped out a two goal interval deficit sustained through Danny Powell and Nick Cawley. Jim Sandiford clinched Bromham an 85-minute winner.
The Stiffs failed to collect a double in their first season, going down 3-0 in a return that was a farewell appearance for five players. Stiffs' Paul Lawrence who has been a Trowbridge League player for 30 years, is moving abroad while Combe with goals from Mike Cassidy, Shawn House his 41st of the season and Russell Webster had Dave Ball, skipper Spencer Jeffries and Steve Maidment all retiring. Webster is also moving away.
Three new teams, FC North Bridge, former member Semington Rovers and Bradford United 201 Reserves have expressed interest in joining the league next season. New applicants should write to secretary Ian Hibbard, 126 Bath Road, Bradford on Avon BA15 1SS by May 31.
The League Management Committee has acceded to a written request from Dursley Arms to allow the result of their abandoned match against Freshford United on April 19 to stand in favour of their opponents.
