STAR Trek Voyager actor Robert Picardo who plays a hologram doctor has visited Swindon in the flesh.
Around 2,000 fans flocked to see the actor during his short visit to the Infinitely Better shop in the Brunel Centre.
It was Robert's first visit to the town. He said: "Swindon certainly seems to be a lovely town, very quaint. I understand it has a long railway history, but I haven't seen a steam engine yet."
Robert talked about his most recent projects, which have involved working on several pilot dramas for American TV and with the new Looney Tunes: Back in Action film which is still in post production.
Of Star Trek, he said: "It was dumb luck how I got the role. I had to be a computer programme with a bad attitude, but I think I impressed them with my 'I'm a doctor Jim, not a computer joke.'"
Shop manager Steve Goss said: "Robert is a great guy and a huge star and it's great to have him in Swindon."
