MORE than 80 groups and individuals have been thanked for their contribution to life in Trowbridge.

Certificates of appreciation were presented to the many people who work tirelessly for the good of the community at the Town Gathering in the Civic Hall on Thursday evening.

Town councillors Angela Milroy Andrew Bryant, in one of his last acts as mayor, made the presentations.

Among those to receive certificates were members of the Studley Green community centre committee.

Cllr Milroy said: "They work endlessly to keep the centre running well and are a flagship for good practice. They are a central part of the community at Studley Green."

Brian and Chris-tine Scrine were recognised for their work at Trowbridge Cricket Club. Cllr Milroy said: "Brian and Christ-ine have been foremost in the transformation of the cricket club from an inward looking, declining cosy club to a progressive and productive club regaining its place as a community club for the people of the town and promoting its youth activities."

Jilali Bettioui received a certificate on behalf of the Moroccan Comm-unity Association for its work in the town.
