A Trowbridge teacher praised for developing a pioneering web design system has reached the final of a national education award.
Neil Davies, who teaches at Wiltshire College is one of six hopefuls short-listed for the Outstanding Teacher/Trainer Award at the Edexcel Achievement in Education Awards 2003.
If he wins, he will receive £1,000 to spend on an educational activity or item of his choice and Wiltshire College will also receive £1,000.
The winner will be announced on June 9 at an awards ceremony hosted by TV presenter Kate Humble at the London Marriott Hotel. A panel of celebrity judges will include chef Antony Worrall-Thompson and journalist Martin Bell.
Mr Davies, 50, of Dursley Road, Trowbridge, won his place on the awards shortlist for his innovative techniques in teaching web design and management.
He developed a specialist software tool, called WebCoacher, to create and manage websites.
It incorporates a step-by-step tutorial which takes students from beginner through to advanced Higher National Diploma (HND) level.
