IT just wasn't cricket in the Wiltshire League at the weekend as the weather tore through the scheduled programme with more than half of the matches cancelled or abandoned at tea.
In Division One, Purton's poor start to the season continued as they were well beaten at Biddestone.
Dwaine Perry (69), Alan Low (53no) and John Mason (39) helped Biddestone to 238-4.
Purton were then bowled out for 117 with Mike Tasker the pick of Biddestone's bowlers, taking 4-31.
Calne entertained Collingbourne and, with a half century from Len Bates and 32 from John Giddings, they reached 147-9.
Ben Doherty (4-28) and Mick Chandler (2-0) did most of the damage. Despite an excellent 59 from Tom Edmunds and 25 from John Addis, Collingbourne struggled and were all out for 117 Chris Downham (4-31) the pick of the bowlers.
At Beanacre, visiting Potterne scored 187 but 67 in reply from Andy Footner helped the hosts to a 23-run victory.
Division Two
Only one game survived in Division Two, with Melksham's Cooper-Avon Tyres earning a nine-wicket victory over Sutton Veny.
Chris Shearn (3-5) and Steve Rendell (4-15) were the stars of Cooper-Avon's bowlers while Darren Perrin (49no) and Derek Wilder (38no) produced the goods with the bat.
Division Three
Bathford scored 178-6 thanks to Paul Merrett's unbeaten 68 and Paul Jackson's 57, against Dauntsey Gentlemen.
Oz Clark then took 6-44 to see Bathford to a narrow 17-run win. Pete Biggs (72) and Dave Sherritt (33) helpedDauntsey to 161.
Blunsdon made an inauspicious start to their campaign as they were bowled out for 88 at home to Spye Park. Spye reached their revised target of 69 for the loss of one wicket.
Division Four
Only one game in this division survived, at Lambourn the home side making 151 (John Ashdown 43 and Paul Hawkins 20).
Warminster were then bowled out for a lowest-ever league total of 30 as Paul Annetts' 7-11 haul.
Division Five
HOSTS Burbage made 150-7 against Buscot Park 2nds John Wheeler (43) and Peter Street (44) starring with the back.
Chasing a revised 117 from 35 overs, Buscot reached their total with 21 balls to spare.
United Churches and Nettleton produced a tied game in their clash.
Division Seven
Dauntsey Gentlemen 2nds entertained United Churches 2nds and scored 163-8 with Neil Thomas (27), Gordon Mitchell (33) and Mel Cammish (38no) scoring well. Paul Walker took 3-28 for Churches.
A patient 29 from Danny Hunt helped Churches to 102-9 as Thomas took 4-32 and Gordon grabbed 3-36.
Clive Warren's 106 helped Bradford Town 2nds to 232 all out as their opponents Marshfield 3rds could only manage 129-9, 14-year-old John Clegg hitting an unbeaten 59.
Division Eight
Highworth 2nds gained 90-run win over visiting Bathford 2nds. Simon Green (71) and Craig Bell (34) helped them to 193-5.
Accurate bowling then restricted Bathford's reply to 103-7.
Corsham 4ths' Paul Dennett took a hat-trick wicket haul against Biddestone 3rds as his side earned an eight-wicket success.
