DIRECTORS of Swindon and Marlborough NHS Trust are to hold a meeting with Julie Pritchard after it is believed tissue samples of her dead baby son were disposed of during the hospital move.
Mrs Pritchard, 42, lost her baby son Brendan 20 years ago only to learn that parts of his body were retained by medics at Princess Margaret Hospital.
She asked for the remains of her son to be returned to her, as she planned to have a second funeral service for him on his birthday, November 7.
But the Evening Advertiser has revealed that in April she was told that that a number of slides containing tissue belonging to Brendan had been thrown away during the move from Princess Margaret Hospital to the Great Western Hospital.
Now Mrs Pritchard, a mother-of-seven, and her husband Rob are set to meet directors of the hospital trust, after submitting an official complaint. She has yet to hear from the trust about Brendan's remaining tissue blocks.
Swindon and Marlborough NHS trust refused to comment on individual cases, but confirmed that they disposed of numerous tissue samples during the hospital move.
Baby Brendan died of a brain haemorrhage two days after his birth on November 7, 1983.
