WILTSHIRE'S over 50s slipped to defeat in their latest two outings, closely fought matches against Surrey and Wales.
In their first match, Surrey won the toss and rattled up 220-6 in 45 overs on a slow, but true wicket.
Of Wiltshire's new players, Andy Stevens of Wootton Bassett bowled a good line and length to take 1-13 in eight overs, and he was well supported by David Howden (2-37).
In reply, Wiltshire scored 203-3, Keith Redding (51) and Rod Smith (54) putting on 113 for the first wicket in 26 overs.
Ron Smith (48) and John Mitchell (32) batted well but were just unable to pick up the momentum required.
Against Wales at a much improved Trowbridge ground £30,000 has been spent on the pavilion and facilities Wiltshire reached 177-4 thanks to Geoff Edwards (60), Brian Wheeler (58) and John Gale (28).
But an injury to their fifth bowler proved their undoing.
Wales capitalised went on to win off the last ball of the match, Stadden (58 not out) and Voke (48 not out) seeing them home with an unbroken partnership of 93 for the sixth wicket.
