MANY of you might accuse us of going over the top with stories about vandalism, but we make no apology for highlighting today yet another example of mindless, wanton wrecking.
It is a problem that disrupts the lives of decent people, but it is not being dealt with by the countless agencies that should be endeavouring to stamp it out.
It is not enough for them to explain it away by claiming that the perpetrators are bored.
Anti-social behaviour of this sort might seem a relatively minor matter to those who have not experienced it. But it causes more stress to ordinary people in the neighbourhoods where it occurs than they would suffer as the result of any bank heist in the centre of town.
Behaviour of this sort disrupts people's lives, ruins their peace of mind, wrecks public amenities and piles up bills that we all have to pay.
Our town has a right to expect higher priority for this problem.
Which is why we shall be asking what police, parents, schools and a variety of agencies are doing to curb it.
