LUNCHBOXES are back, and in Swindon, more than half of the town's workers now bring one to work with them on a daily basis,
A new long-awaited survey of employee eating habits, claims staff in Swindon spend £1.45 a day by taking their lunch to work compared to £3.20 eating out.
In effect, the lunchbox lover saves a weekly sum of £8.75, a monthly saving of £35, and a yearly saving of £455.
Indeed, more than half of the workers surveyed in Swindon said that they used their lunchboxes specifically to save money, while a quarter confessed to using one to save time.
Sadly, further figures reveal that 18 per cent of Swindon's workforce are actually conscious of the lunchbox they take in to the office, being careful to ensure its design and colour reflects the the latest trends.
According to Kay Nicholls of Masterfoods, which conducted the survey: "Workers know what they want at lunchtime and a good packed lunchbox seems to be the answer."
