JAMES Griffiths proved a real chip off the old block out at the Claydon Park Fishery.
Grandfather and Horse Shoe bailiff Ian Griffiths had caught an impressive looking 29lb 9oz carp, using a 14mm halibut pellet presented on a size eight ESP hair rig.
And not to be outdone, young James went on to take a cracking, 6lb 10oz tench using the same method.
GARY Skates, last year's aggregate runner-up in the Raychem AC aggregate, staked an early claim for this year's title by easily winning the club's opening match on their lagoon.
Gary had fine bites, and landed a total of 31lb of carp five fish from peg eight.
Fishing on peg 16 was Ian Barker.
He filled second spot on the day with 15lb of bream taken using a feeder.
Neil Hitchinson finished in third place with a satisfying 8lb bag of mixed fish.
The latest match at Greenhill Fishery was won by Wootton Bassett's Gordon Perrin.
He took a total of four carp and some small fish taken on pole-fished maggot for a 6lb 3oz winning bag.
Dave Watkins was second with 4lb 6oz of skimmers and tench, and third was Vince Harvey with 3-1-8 of skimmers and golden orfe.
Cliff Brown got the verdict in a tight match at the Wednesday Club match, held this time at Bourton-on-the-Water.
Brown landed a cracking 56lb of carp to beat the club secretary, Val Hillier (50lb), with Dale Sole third with 45lb.
