I WAS intrigued to read the article in Wednesday's Adver concerning the Sun Inn.
While not condoning intimidation and threats, I found the reaction of pub landlady Cerian Cornel most bizarre. She has to be aware of the immense cruelty involved in the slaughter of kangaroos in particular too gruesome for a family newspaper. Kangaroo farms are a figment of a vivid imagination.
What was more predictable was the hysterical reaction of the Adver's editorial column which is always sympathetic to animal abusers. Any responsible newspaper would take the trouble to research and understand the cruelty aspect before making such pathetic comments about the enemies of freedom. Freedom to inflict pain and suffering on innocent animals is not an option for civilized people. It is not the animal activists who are the cowards but the real cowards are the people that slaughter innocent animals whether those people are abattoir workers, Hunters with hounds or the scientists in the modern day Auschwitz of the vivisection laboratory.
Animals cannot speak up for themselves and I applaud the people that are prepared to stand up for them.
