BEMERTON Heath Harle-quins this week named Salisbury businessman Eddie Boswell as its new chairman after club stalwart George Parker stepped down from the position he had held for more than 18 years.
Parker, who has been connected with the club for 50 years, was made a vice president along with David Heather at Monday evening's annual general meeting, and says he will continue to help the club in a variety of ways.
"I think I've taken them as far as I can," said Parker, who last month was the subject of a memorable 'This Is Your Life'-type event at Western Way in recognition of his 50th anniversary at the club.
"We've got superb facilities and have great organisation, but it's time for me to stand down. I shall still be helping out at the ground on match days."
The club also appointed former Amesbury Town, Winchester City and Stock-bridge manager Mark Smith as assistant to first team manager Steve Slade.
Harlequins would like to hear from any qualified coaches and physios interested in getting involved with the Jewson Wessex League club. Ring 01722 3319125 for more details.
