THE sound of music echoed through the corridors of Corsham County Primary School recently when the Carnival Band arrived for its annual workshop.
Children from year five were treated to a lively day of music, drama and dancing from the nationally recognised musicians.
"They are very talented and skilled musicians. Their visit is the highlight of the school year. They are people you see on CDs," said head teacher Fiona Allen.
The entire year spent the whole day learning about music, rhythm and story telling.
And their enthusiasm was shared by the teachers who were eager to join in as well.
"The teachers really enjoy it and they don't want to miss out on it. It is wonderful," said Mrs Allen.
The weather was so good that some of the workshops were held outside and the music could be heard throughout the whole school.
The children were divided into smaller groups by the four Carnival Band musicians and then joined together in the afternoon to put on a performance in front of the whole school.
"The children really got a lot out of it and it is a great experience for them," said Mrs Allen.
The musicians showed the children how to play drums, double basses, clarinets, flutes and many other different instruments.
The school is already looking forward to the Carnival Band's return next year.
