LIBRARIES in north Wiltshire are looking for volunteers to help with a home delivery service for readers in Chippenham, Malmesbury and Corsham.
The service delivers books to people who have difficulty leaving their homes to visit the library.
Volunteers are involved in selecting books and tapes for housebound customers and visiting them on a regular basis.
The Home Service plays an important role in ensuring that all members of the community have access to the library service.
Lisa Main decided to become a volunteer for the Corsham Library Home Service soon after she moved to the area.
She said it was a great way to meet new people and to get involved in the local community.
"I find being a volunteer fulfilling and great fun. It gives me the opportunity to meet people and discuss books," she said.
"As a volunteer-run service it means that volunteers have time to get to know their customers."
Wiltshire County Council believes the service also helps to ease the pressure on families looking after housebound relatives and combat the sense of isolation people can feel.
