DEVIZES 2nd dodged the showers and made light work of disposing of Wootton Bassett 2nd on Saturday.
Having been beaten by Trowbridge in a low scoring game the week before, it was important that Devizes made a strong start and an opening partnership of 54 provided a solid platform.
On a slow wicket that offered a little assistance to the bowlers Devizes pushed on and, aided by the slippery conditions, managed to post a satisfactory total of 204 for six from 41 overs.
Pete Ross scored his maiden half-century for the club and some lusty blows from Pat Legge steered the home side past the 200 mark.
Bassett struggled against some accurate seam bowling in reply and lost wickets at regular intervals. Excellent fielding and catching ensured an early finish and Bassett were bowled out for 123.
