YOUTH CRICKET: CHIPPENHAM'S U13 and U15 teams have both made promising starts to the Bath and District League, each winning their opening two fixtures.
The U13s bowled out Bradford for just 28 in their opening game, with Liam Dawson taking three wickets and Omar Ali Javed and Zurain Qureshi two each.
Tom Young and Rob Leighfield then knocked off the runs to give Chippenham a ten-wicket victory.
In their second match against Corsham, captain James Vince top scored with 24 and Jonathan Day made a valuable 17 not out as Chippenham mustered 78 for four in their 20 overs.
In reply, only Jeffries with 14 offered any resistance to Chippenham's accurate bowling before he was run out by a fine throw from David Brown.
For Chippenham, Chris Blewett, Will Smith, Tom Beard, and David Brown each took two wickets as Corsham were dismissed for 39 to give Chippenham victory by 39 runs.
Chippenham U15s began their campaign at Frome and lost two early wickets before George Sykes and Liam Dawson steadied the innings with a 50-run partnership. A late burst of hitting from Will Couzens took the score to 105 for four in the 20 overs.
Frome then had no answer to the accurate bowling of Liam Dawson, who took five wickets for eight runs as they were dismissed for just 29 to leave Chippenham winners by 76 runs.
In their next match against Trowbridge, fine half-centuries from captain Sykes and Phil Adams took Chippenham to 135 for two.
All-rounder Adams then completed an outstanding individual match as he bowled five batsmen in his first two overs. Spinner Couzens also took a hat-trick as Trowbridge were all out for just 43 to leave Chippenham the victors by 92 runs.
