YOUTH CRICKET: THE North Wilts Junior Cricket has been expanded this year and now consists of eight sides at U11, ten teams at U13 and eight teams at U15.
Biddestone, Calne, Cannings, Chippenham, Corsham, Erlestoke, Malmesbury, Purton, Swindon and Wootton Bassett have all entered teams this summer.
In the opening U13 match, Biddestone lost two early wickets at Calne but recovered through Sam Boor (52) and Joshua Barnes (48) to declare at 154-7 after 34 overs. For Calne, Tom Crosby took three wickets for 30 in seven overs.
In reply, Calne made a steady start with Andrew Windsor scoring 18 before Joshua Barnes brought about a dramatic collapse as he took five wickets for two runs in two overs.
Joshua Taylor also took three wickets as Calne eventually reached 54 all out to give Biddestone victory by 100 runs.
The opening U15 match saw Biddestone entertain Cannings. Batting first, Biddestone were indebted to Christopher Lawton who batted throughout the innings to score a fine 89 not out.
The main support came from James Taylor (25) as Biddestone totalled 174 for eight in their 45 overs. James Selby and Paul Pitman each took two wickets for Cannings.
Lee Pitman (35) and Stephen Draisey (22) then gave Cannings a solid start before fine stroke play from Wiltshire U15 captain Adam Croutear (46 not out) and Charles Moss (46 not out) took Cannings to their target with 13 overs to spare with eight wickets in hand.
