A GARDEN designed by Wiltshire businessman James Dyson has been accredited with a Silver Gilt Floral Award at this week's Chelsea Flower Show.
Featured in the famous flower show's Show Gardens category, Mr Dyson's The Wrong Garden challenges current ideas about form.
The garden's focal point is Mr Dyson's water feature where water appears to flow upwards.
The structure is made almost entirely out of glass. Along the side of the garden and placed around the fountain are four double seats made from only glass and wire engineered using techniques developed for suspension bridges.
Mr Dyson created the attraction with Jim Honey, a garden designer whom he met in 1998 when he was looking to transform his own garden in Provence.
Over the years, Mr Dyson has demonstrated his interest in gardening by devising the Ballbarrow, an improved wheelbarrow, and the Waterolla, a large plastic drum that could be filled with water instead of concrete.
Said Mr Dyson: "I've always wanted to do a 'wrong' garden. If you think of doing the opposite of what should be done, you can often stimulate innovation and do something creative and interesting."
The inventor has a factory in Malmesbury.
