JOHN STRICKLAND MEMORIAL CUP: NICK Taylor scored twice as league champions Selectabook claimed the John Strickland Memorial Cup for the fifth time in seven seasons.
A stale opening period saw the Bookmen struggle to break down the Bar OC defence, but the holders opened the scoring a minute before the interval when David Lloyd drew goalkeeper Jason Edwards and flicked the ball over for an unmarked Taylor to head home.
The second half saw the Bar OC create chances for Tom Paget and Tom Evans in the opening minutes, but a they fell further behind when Kevin Whitbread headed home Julian Alexander's inch-perfect cross from the right.
A defensive mix-up allowed Nick Taylor to pick up the loose ball and slot home for his second and the Bookmen's third.
Pete Swales almost pulled one back when his shot from 25 yards flew just wide, and Bar OC grabbed a lifeline with 12 minutes to go.
Nick Harford collected a through ball and cut the ball back from the byline for Mark Hulland to score.
But Selectabook put the outcome beyond doubt two minutes later when a mis-kick in the Bar OC penalty area fell to Julian Alexander, and the veteran forward crossed for David Lloyd to head home.
The Bookmen scored with the final touch of the game, substitute Jamie Butler heading the fifth goal from Lloyd's flick on.
Darren Strickland presented Selectabook with the John Strickland Memorial Cup, while Duncan Sterling of Cup sponsors Selectabook presented trophies to referee Ian Currie, and assistant referees Alan Evans and Lee Baston.
