DEVIZES PHAB Club's normally fabulous luck with the weather broke down on Saturday as rain hit its annual fundraising wheelchair push and walk.
Organisers gave disabled participants black plastic bags to wrap round them to stop them getting wet and cold.
The event still managed to raise more than £2,000 towards the club's running costs.
The rain certainly did not dampen the spirits of the 45 handicapped and able-bodied members who took part.
They completed two laps from the Nursteed Centre via Sarum Drive, Pans Lane, and Southbroom Road. To add to the fun there was a fancy dress and hat competition.
Flo Sandy and Tim Horsman won the fancy dress competition as Nora Batty and Compo, and Joan Aldridge won the hat competition with Every Dog Has Had Its Day.
Committee member Michael Braund, who has helped organise the wheelchair push since it started in 1983, said: "It was a pity we didn't get our usual PHAB weather, but at least it had stopped raining by the time most had started the second lap. It was a bit more of an endurance event this year than it usually is."
