MILES Copland of Corsham Wolves under 13s has become the first player to be capped by the new Corsham Youth Academy after an inspirational performance in the Bath and District Youth League against Frome.
Copland, captain of the Wolves, batted superbly and amassed 33 out of a total of 82 and then took two for four off two overs as Frome fell 17 runs short of their target.
Other useful batting contributions came from George Squibbs and Liam Sumsion and there were good bowling performances from Harriet More, George Squibbs, Josh Bewley, Henry Burridge and Liam Sumsion. Tom Wood was exceptional behind the stumps.
Corsham have restructured their youth set-up as an academy this year to provide a succession of quality players through to the first team.
The academy is run by Corsham and Wiltshire wicketkeeper batsman Neil Shardlow and teams play in the Bath and North Wilts youth leagues.
Caps will be awarded for outstanding personal contributions.
