THE headteacher at St Laurence School in Bradford on Avon dramatically quit in April after the school's financial problems came to light.
Nick Sorensen resigned from the post he held for six years after parents expressed their lack of confidence in him.
It was later announced the school would come through this year £70,000 in the red and five jobs have been cut to help redress the balance.
At a meeting last week chairman of governors Vivien Davies told parents: "Through these last two terms we have worked desperately hard to make cutbacks. There is only one place to make up the shortfall and that meant we had to make redundancies."
Mrs Davies admitted that, despite these measures, the school still expects to be £154,000 in deficit next year.
Parents have been angered that the school took so long to come clean about problems and are concerned that redundancies will lead to bigger class sizes at the school.
