VANDALS caused thousands of pounds worth of damage when they broke windows in 13 cars and stole items from them in Warminster.
The cars were all parked in roads and driveways near the town centre when the vandals attacked them in the early hours of Sunday morning.
All 13 cars had at least one window broken as the thieves stole small items such as sunglasses, walkie-talkies and cameras.
Many items were taken from cars' glove compartments. More valuable items such as car stereos were left behind.
The trail of damage spread along Boreham Road, Smallbrook Road, Highbury Park, Woodcock Road and Furlong. A resident in the area told police a car alarm was set off at 2.15am.
Furlong is monitored at each end by CCTV cameras and police plan to scour this footage in the hope of identifying the vandals.
PC John Pearse, of Warminster police, said: "This was not just a drunken rampage. We are advising residents to be alert and not to leave property in their cars even when they are locked."
Anyone with information should contact Warminster police on (01985) 847000.
