BRAVE mother Paula Hamilton paid tribute to Wiltshire Times readers this week for backing a quest to bring about justice for her murdered daughter Zoe.
In an e-mail sent to the Wiltshire Times this week 35-year-old Paula Hamilton spoke of her everlasting memories of nine-year-old Zoe and the ongoing quest to ensure her former husband stays behind bars for good.
The Wiltshire Times launched the Justice for Zoe campaign in April, and are appealing for Home Secretary David Blunkett to review the case and set a minimum tariff for killer Miles Evans immediately.
Mrs Hamilton, who is working on rebuilding her shattered life, sent us this emotional tribute: "I would like to thank you for your support in what you are doing for my daughter and thank MP Andrew Murrison and Wiltshire Times readers for getting justice for Zoe.
"A day doesn't go by when I don't think of her.
"I see other children who would be her age and I think what she would be like now. It breaks my heart.
"She was such a wonderful, bright, beautiful girl and it just saddens me but with what you are doing it helps.
"So many people are getting justice for her and hopefully she can rest in peace.
"We are not doing this for me or my family just to get justice for Zoe. A big thank you."
Mrs Hamilton, who now lives in Ireland with her new soldier husband Richard and 13-year-old son Glenn, called for the death sentence to be restored when Evans was found guilty of murdering schoolgirl Zoe in 1998.
Since then the family have faced an agonising wait to learn how long the 29-year-old former soldier will remain locked-up.
West Wilts MP Andrew Murrison has taken up the cause and plans to raise the Justice for Zoe campaign in the House of Commons appealing directly to Home Secretary David Blunkett to review the case and take action.
The laws surrounding the sentencing of killers are set to change after a recent law lords ruling.
By the end of the year child killers could face whole life sentences for their crimes particularly when they involve elements of abduction or sexual abuse.
Last week Zoe's 57-year-old grandmother, Ann Hamilton, who lives in Trowbridge, also thanked Wiltshire Times readers for their ongoing support.
We aim to step up the Justice for Zoe campaign in the next few weeks giving members of the public more opportunities to add their name to our growing army of supporters.
