Wootton Bassett Petticoat Club welcomed Adrian Dolan, of Bath Aqua Glass, to its last meeting.
He described his enthusiasm for an ancient craft which involves creating jugs, bowls, decanters and goblets. These, and other samples from Bath Aqua Glass, were on show.
The meeting heard that free hand blown glass derives its unique colour from the addition of copper which is present in spa waters.
Mr Dolan displayed the tools used in production, and intricate designs inspired by Roman and Georgian craftsmen. Slides revealed the scope of activities at the glass workshop in Walcot Street, Bath.
Next Wednesday the club will focus on Indian culture, with guest speaker Mina Ladwa, who will demonstrate the correct way to wear a sari.
New members are welcome to join the club. Meet at 8pm in the hall above the Conservative Club in High Street. For more information, contact the Petticoat Club secretary on 01793 851075.
