CELEBRITY vet Fiona Green is coming to town for the launch of a campaign to encourage responsible pet ownership.

One of the stars of television's Vets in Practice programme is joining forces with the Blue Cross Charity for the national campaign.

They will be meeting shoppers at the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet Village on Saturday, May 31, to highlight the need for more people looking for a pet to consider the Blue Cross adoption centres and help people choose the right pet for their lifestyle.

Fiona explained: "Pets are a great addition to any home, from teaching children about how to look after animals to being a companion for the elderly. The responsible pet ownership roadshow is a great way for animal lovers to find out everything they need to know about choosing and caring for a pet."

The Blue Cross's overall purpose has remained the same since its inception in 1897.

In the early years, the charity focussed on welfare problems faced by the many working horses in London and during the two world wars.

In more recent times, the growing number of household pets has led to a greater emphasis on supporting their needs while continuing to care for the needs of horses.
