A SWINDON councillor has been appointed to serve on the Local Government Associ-ation's rural executive.

Jemima Milton (Con, Wroughton and Chiseldon), recently appointed as the local authority's lead member for social services, is a former Conserv-ative group spokeswoman for rural affairs.

She said: "It's important the rural areas are not forgotten. My priorities are to ensure rural areas get the services they require to run efficiently. I will be working to ensure that the executive makes a difference to the quality of life for people living and working in rural areas."
