THE best journalism in Wiltshire was applauded at an awards ceremony.
The first Wiltshire Media Awards, organised by the Swindon Branch of the National Union of Journa-lists, was at the Old Town's Goddard Arms Hotel.
Journalists from newspapers, tv, radio and the internet attended the event. Cash was raised for Adver's Macmillan appeal and the NUJ benevolent fund.
The winners, scooping £100 and a certificate designed by Swindon College students, were: Reporter of the Year, Steve Brodie, BBC Points West; Newcomer of the Year, Ben D' arcy, Central News and Victoria Tagg, Evening Advertiser; Sports Journalist of the Year, Shaun Hodgetts, BBC Sport; Features Journalist of the Year, Peter Jones, GWR FM; Headline of the Year, Neville Smith, Evening Advertiser; Photographer of the Year, Trevor Porter, Wiltshire Times; Scoop of the Year, Ben Fitzgerald, Evening Advertiser; Press Officer of the Year, Stanley Hurwitz, Moore, Allen and Innocent.
