THE Environment Agency is planning a road license blitz this weekend to ensure anglers are fishing legally.
Officers will be out and about over the holiday weekend checking waters right across the South West as part of a national awareness campaign.
Anglers who fish without a valid rod license should expect to pay five times the value of a rod license in court fines and costs.
Anyone fishing on any inland water must have a rod license. Funds raised from license sales allow the agency to continue it work restoring fisheries and restocking rivers and improving riverside habitats.
Rod licenses are available from Post Offices, agency offices, via telesales on 0870 1662 662 or over the Internet at www.environment-agency.gov.uk
