FROM cavalry displays to windsurfing, there are a host of fun activities for all the family taking place in and around Swindon this weekend.

A children's activity programme gets underway at Keynes Country Park, in the Cotswold Water Park.

Youngsters can try their hand at sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, canoeing, raft-building and archery.

Swindon Balloon Festival, sponsored by the Evening Advertiser, starts at 11am on Saturday, Sunday and Monday at Lydiard Park.

Besides the competition balloons, there will also be a range of novelty balloons.

The Link Centre in West Swindon is holding a fun day on Monday including swimming, badminton, short tennis, table tennis, snooker, squash, climbing and gym activities. Call 445566 for details.

The traditional Tetbury Woolsack race and fun day takes place on Monday. Runners have to carry a 60lb sack of wool up and down Gumstool Hill.

Events start at 10am, while the race begins at 2.30pm.

At Old Sarum Castle near Salisbury, there will be a Victorian cavalry display on Sunday and Monday from noon.
