THE Great Swindon Duck Race drew bank holiday crowds to Wootton Bassett Road recreation ground.
Around 3,500 ducks were entered for the race, organised as part of a fun day by the Rotary Club of Swindon Old Town.
The numbered plastic ducks were dropped into the River Ray at the Juno Way bridge.
Among those hoping for the first prize of £750 was Gill Alexander, 42, of nearby Dartmoor Close.
She said: "I've bought five ducks, one for each of my nephews, and one for myself."
Also taking part was Nicky Simcox, 34, of Liden, who said: "I've bought five, I hope I win."
The event raised around £8,000, which will go towards children's charities in Swindon.
Rotarian Roy Parkinson said: "We've had a wonderful turnout.
"We had a bit of good weather, as well as some showers, but we still got the crowds."
