Former Swindon Supermarine boss Alan Dyton and his assistant Tony Garland have taken over the reins at Hellenic Division One West side Shrivenham.

Dyton, who has been out of Saturday soccer for 18 months, led Supermarine to the Hellenic Premier Division championship a couple of seasons ago and became assistant to Clive Maguire at the start of the club's venture into the Dr Martens League.

Maguire and Marine parted company after just two months, leaving Dyton to resume control as caretaker.

But the South Marston side soon appointed John Murphy as boss, leaving Dyton surplus to requirements.

Work commitments have kept him out of the semi-professional game since, but the Shrivenham job proved too good to turn down after former boss Dave Clauson resigned.

"I'm looking forward to the new challenge," said Dyton.

"They seem to be an ambitious club and are cracking ahead with several improvements to the changing rooms and clubhouse and have plans for floodlights in the pipeline.

"It was a challenge that appealed to me and together with Tony Garland we shall give it our best shot.

"I have been keeping an eye on the local soccer scene helping out with Sunday League side Juventus so I don't think I will have got too rusty."

Shrivenham vice chairman Robb Forty said: "We are all delighted that Alan and his assistant have decided to join the club.

"Our former manager, Dave Clauson, has had to step down due to work commitments and I approached Alan to see if he would take over.

"With our new changing facility up and running for next season and several more ground improvements it would be great to reach Premier League status in a couple of years."
