A NEW council with a new leader has been elected. Three leaders in the space of a year has meant a total lack of stability in the Council Chambers.
It is now time for all councillors, from the experienced to the newly elected, regardless of their political loyalties, to put all their party and personal differences behind them and to start to work together in making decisions and implementing policies that are in the best interests of the people of Swindon.
This is no easy task. But a united front with a common goal will make it possible.
Fighting with each other makes it impossible.
The last year's instability and the ensuing position in the Government League Tables proves my point.
I hope the lesson has now been learned and we can look forward to a united council with the public's best interests at heart.
Only time will tell, it is now in the hands of all the councillors to band together and give our children a decent education, look after our pensioners, and give us a council and town to be proud of.
