SWINDON Council's decision-making cabinet is to be urged to support a innovative flyover to relieve congestion at the Commonhead roundabout on the A419.
The scheme, which is part of the Government's Targeted Programme of Improvements, is likely to be constructed within the next five years and would be financed by the Highways Agency and cost upwards of £10.5 million.
The flyover, less than a mile from the new Great Western Hospital, is among three options available to alleviate the current traffic problems.
Experts consider a flyover, constructed on earth embankments as opposed to an imposing structure, more suitable than an underpass or throughabout a modernised roundabout.
