PGA NEWS: Former European Tour player Martin Poxon, who has played in the Cornish Festival in the past, had never had the pleasure of testing the marvellous championship links at St Enodoc
After his opening round played in periods of sunshine and torrential rain he told tournament controller Richard Bowden: "What a wonderful golf course!"
"What did you shoot?" asked Bowden. "82" came the reply. And there was no suggestion of sarcasm. Poxon followed his 13-over-par with a tasty one-under at Newquay
His sentiments about Enodoc were shared by most players who felt it was the best course they had played this year.
