Swindon slipped to their second rain-affected defeat of the season at Bredon.

The visitors won the toss and, inserting Bredon, gained a lot of assistance from the damp wicket.

Another much-improved fielding display and disciplined bowling meant runs were hard to come by with Bredon managing little above a run an over through the early part of the innings.

The breakthrough eventually came via a run-out thanks to good work in the deep from Dan Willis on his debut.

The attack then despatched Young and Fisher, and when heavy rain forced a stop in play Swindon were well on top.

Willis was introduced when play resumed and he despatched the dangerous-looking Hill.

Off-spinner Zohaib was introduced and he had immediate success with Stinchcombe catching Dunn at backward square leg.

Rain again interrupted, reducing the match to 41 overs per side. And with 13 overs remaining Bredon began to take chances, adding nearly 50 to reach 117-8 at the close.

Swindon's openers Sydney-Smith and Baden started cautiously, and with the pitch offering more and more assistance scoring became increasingly difficult.

Sydney-Smith departed early, before Baden and Patel took the score to 45 before both fell in quick succession.

With two new batsmen at the crease, Swindon found it difficult to achieve the required five runs per over and Baker and Staff both fell trying to force the pace. Beasant and Barnett also tried to up the tempo but Swindon were stranded on 65-5 when the heavens opened again.

And they eventually lost on run rate as the innings had passed the 30 overs required to constitute a game.
