EDITH Liddle will be remembered for always being busy - and making the most delicious Sunday roasts.
A fortnight before her 103rd birthday, Mrs Liddle died in her sleep at the Great Western Hospital.
Originally from Yorkshire, she moved in with her daughter, Doreen Dixon, in Walcot, 12 years ago.
Mrs Dixon, 74, said: "She was a wonderful woman and never stopped being on the go. She was constantly chatting, baking, scrubbing or decorating."
Before joining her daughter, Mrs Liddle lived in Stockton-on-Tees.
Mrs Dixon puts her mother's longevity down to hard work and a healthy lifestyle. She said: "Since leaving school at 14, Edith worked on the family-run farm. Milking cows, picking turnips and potatoes and feeding the hens were all part of her busy routine."
Save for a daily glass of advocaat at 11am on the dot during her later years, Mrs Liddle did not drink alcohol.
"Her roasts, complete with Yorkshire pudding, were great, as were her jam tarts," Mrs Dixon added.
Mrs Liddle was married to John Edward, more commonly known as Eddie, who died in 1990. Mrs Dixon is their only child.
A funeral service will be held at Immanuel Church, in Upham Road, tomorrow at 9.45am.
