Long-serving Mendip member Abe Fukuyama organised a charity competition for than 100 players.
David Wilkins, who won the Burnell Cup the previous week, still managed to win with 39 points, one better than Graham Bradley, despite having been cut by five strokes to 10 and playing off 7/8ths handicap.
Sponsorship and a 'book' run by head greenkeeper Richard Flower contributed to a sum of £700 being donated to the captain's charity. The day included a social disco, £1,300 of prizes, a raffle, huge profit to the club in bar sales and lots of enjoyment to all the participants.
